To learn more about energy costs, sign up for the AKES “Home Energy Efficiency” class through AHFC. Create an account here and register for free!

Instructions:

  • Look up your electric utility rate ($/kWh) on your bill (example here) and enter below. Selected utility rates are at the bottom of the page for quick reference.
  • Check each appliance for how many watts they use. You can find this on some product tags, online, or by using an electricity monitor.
  • Estimate how long you use each appliance (approximate hours per day and days per month).
  • Enter one line per appliance or set of appliances (like lightbulbs) that use the same number of watts and are used for the same amount of time.
