Renewable Energy Alaska Project (REAP) is seeking a STEM Educator to assist with REAP’s education and outreach efforts to K-12 educators and students through classroom visits and teacher trainings, curriculum development and review, and general outreach and promotion of energy education to stakeholders around the state. He or she will also work with other REAP staff to execute the organization’s broader clean energy outreach goals through events and campaigns.
Location: Anchorage, Alaska
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Plan and execute approximately 12 in-state outreach trips per year
- Promoting K-12 STEM education programs including AK EnergySmart and Wind for Schools
- Train K-12 educators to use various clean energy curricula
- Assist the Energy Education Director with managing REAP’s energy education programs including AKEnergySmart and Wind for Schools as well as collaborations with universities and state and federal agencies
- Help maintain the accuracy and relevance of AK EnergySmart and Wind for Schools resources,incorporating feedback from a variety of stakeholders to update or write new lessons
- Design new online and print resources for educators to supplement existing curricula resources
- Meet multiple contract and reporting deadlines throughout the year
- Assist with managing the AK EnergySmart and REAP websites, including writing and updating content, updating layouts, and uploading content
- Interface regularly with educators and school administrators
- Interface regularly with REAP’s Alaska Network for Energy Education & Employment (ANEEE)
- Assisting REAP staff with event creation and management, including event logistics
- Staying abreast of current news related to energy policy and clean energy
- Staying alert for energy education funding opportunities
