Want to enter your class to win a field trip of a power plant or supplies for your classroom?! The 7th annual Power Pledge Challenge is in its planning stages for next school year. For 2019, REAP is again partnering with utilities and other supporting organizations to deliver an Energy Efficiency and Conservation lesson to middle school science classes – at no cost. The lesson is delivered by one of the partners and includes correlations to NGSS and Alaska Science Content Standards, as well as improving the energy literacy of your students (check out the video to the right on energy literacy in Alaska). Students who complete a simple online energy pledge enter their class to win prizes. The regional prize will be a tour of the power plant and pizza party; the grand (state) prize includes up to $1,200 of energy efficiency kits from NEED.org

This year we will have SIX regional prizes, and all will be competing for a grand (state) prize. The presentation windows for each region are below:

Mat-Su/Eagle River: September 16th – 27th

Fairbanks: September 16th – 20th

Homer/Kenai: September 30th – October 4th

Juneau: October 1st – 12th

Nome: October 7th – 11th

Anchorage: October 7th – 17th

Alaska Village Electric Cooperative Communities: October 21st-25th

Seward: October 29th-30th
